Carnival and OEM Zone, Highlights of the Tennis and Badminton Zone of 2013 China SportShow

Sina Sports—The 31st China SportShow will be held in the New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) from May 31st to June 3rd , 2013. The overall plan for recruitment of exhibitors of this year will be started earlier than previous years. As revealed by Ms. Sun Li, the person in charge of the tennis and badminton zone, the recruitment for the upcoming China SportShow is going on smoothly. She also briefed the reporters of the latest progress of the work, and informed that, the Tennis and Badminton Carnival, added by the interaction with the audience, would be continued. The OEM Zone, which has been under planning for a long time, is expected to make her debut at the 31st China SportShow.

Ms. Sun Li introduced that, with a participation of 120 enterprises or more, the Tennis and Badminton Zone of the 2013 China SportShow would be still staged in E2 Exhibition Hall of the NCIEC, covering a space of 12,000 square meters. She said, “50 enterprises have registered already, accounting for about 40% of the total. In order to provide a better service for the exhibitors, we have started the distribution of exhibition booths earlier this year. Now, we are distributing the exhibition booths of around 150 square meters. At a later timer, exhibition booth of other sizes will be distributed.”

Ms. Sun Li disclosed that the Tennis and Badminton Carnival would be continued at the 2013 China SportShow, as its interaction activities had attracted a great number of visitors at previous SportShows. She said, “Being of a sound reputation, and catering to the taste of both the public and the exhibitors, the Carnival will be further continued this year. In addition to invitation of international-caliber teams for demonstrating the sports, we shall make public of some new products, including rackets, floor, nets, and display screens, etc. with the aim to popularize these equipments. The audience has the chance to experience these products. The public racket-tryout activities will be held as before.”

Ms. Sun Li noted that, many domestic tennis and badminton enterprises used to supply their products to the foreign trade companies in the form of OEM. However, due to the decline of the market, those enterprises had a rough time in recent years. Ms. Sun Li expressed her wish that China SportShow could be served as a show stand for those enterprises, so that more professional visitor could have better knowledge of them. She said, “Through the initial contact with the market at the last SportShow, some enterprises have already participated in the OEM Zone. Now, for participation in the OEM Zone, negotiations with the Racket Association of the Fuyang Industry Base are under way. We hope, through the work of the associations, it can attract more enterprises, so that the OEM Zone can take a certain shape.”

Ms. Sun Li informed that there were more badminton exhibitors than tennis at the Show. She said, “The reason is that, badminton is well developed in China, it has never shown a declining trend in the number of badminton fans. As tennis has a higher requirement for play grounds, so the shrinking of tennis market might have a relationship with their requirements in play grounds and equipment, and with the public consumption ability. The tennis fever in the past several years had given an impetus to the development of tennis in China. Along with the emergence of more tennis fans, a number of international brands has begun to enter the Chinese market. However, as tennis has set up a high requirement on play grounds and equipment, the market ability is not matched with the public consumption ability, it will inevitably lead to declination of the market to some extent. As an expert in this field, Ms. Sun Li also expressed her worries about the depression of the badminton market. She said, “The depression of the market is mainly reflected in the declining of the number of orders of the famous brands, such as LINING. Though the three big domestic brands have invested a great deal in professional areas, but the number of orders in the public market is declining. The reason is that the price is a bit too high for the ordinary consumers. Therefore, the public consumption ability is declining. Being lack of a platform to show their brands and products, the middle and small enterprises of the three big brands find it difficult to gain a share in the market. Due to the gap with the famous brands in the quality of products, these enterprises are plodding hardly in its development.”

Ms. Sun Li also briefed the reporters of the invitation of professional visitors She said, “For attracting more professional visitors we will continue to make full use of the channels of clubs.” In addition to that, the organizers of the China SportShow will keep a good contact with some fitness venues, as the sport venues have their own requirements on the tennis and badminton equipment and the facilities.
