China's CPI rises 0.3% YoY, 0.1% MoM in Apr 2024; core CPI up 0.7% YoY

The consumer price index (CPI) in China, a primary gauge of inflation, increased by 0.3 per cent year on year (YoY) in April this year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
It rose by 0.1 per cent in the month on a monthly basis, reversing the 1-per cent drop from the previous month.
The core CPI, excluding food and energy prices, went up by 0.7 per cent YoY in the month, expanding by 0.1 percentage points from March, a state-controlled news agency reported.
