China’s Sporting Goods Industry Exceeds RMB 2 Trillion | CHINA SPORT SHOW 2027 in Chengdu

On the eve of CHINA SPORT SHOW 2026, the China Sporting Goods Federation (CSGF) officially released the Annual Development Report of China’s Sporting Goods Industry (2025), authoritatively outlining the new landscape of industry development. According to the report, the total output of China’s sporting goods manufacturing and sales reached RMB 2,085 billion in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%, accounting for 54.3% of the total sports industry output, marking a new level of industrial scale.

Data shows that since 2022, the value-added growth rate of the sporting goods manufacturing industry has consistently exceeded the national average for manufacturing, with the industry’s share steadily increasing and its development resilience continuously strengthening. Performance varied across sub-sectors: sports footwear and apparel have seen continuous growth over the past five years, up 7.38% year-on-year in 2025; fitness equipment and outdoor products experienced slight corrections after a period of rapid growth; outdoor goods consumption remained strong, with sales up 22.22% year-on-year in 2025, becoming a new consumption hotspot.

 

The consumer market continues to expand, with online channels becoming the core engine of growth. In 2025, sales of sporting goods on China’s four major e-commerce platforms increased by 15.89% year-on-year. Sports venue construction has entered a phase of stock optimization. By the end of 2025, the total number of sports venues nationwide reached 5.0037 million, with a total floor area of 4.372 billion square meters, presenting significant market potential for renovation and upgrading. Meanwhile, Chinese sporting goods enterprises are accelerating their transformation from product exports to capacity and brand exports, with continuously rising international competitiveness.
