The number of export destinations of Chinese sporting goods has added up to over 110, according to Sports Equipment Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China.
The processing trade exports have made significant contributions, including sports equipment, shoes and apparel. The biggest advantage of these products is good quality and reasonable price. The United States, Japan, Germany and Britain are among the top five of the export destination list of Chinese sporting goods, and contribute to 65% of the total exports.
However, affected by the weak global economy, Chinese sports market is also in a difficult situation.
According to “2012 Annual Report of Chinese Sporting Goods Industry”, the total amount of inventories of the biggest six domestic brands reached 3.721 billion yuan, higher than 3.699 billion yuan in 2011, which directly led to the collapse of many brand stores.
In order to overcome these difficulties and cope with trade barriers set up by U.S. and European markets, Chinese sporting goods industry starts to turn to emerging markets such as Brazil, India and Middle East.
Since Brazil will hold several international sporting events in the next few years, it will become a major target of the global sports market. As the fifth largest country in the world, Brazil has a large population and huge market. But the sports equipment industry in Brazil is not yet mature. And a lot of exhibitors at China Sport Show are very optimistic about the Brazilian market.
