BEIJING — The Chinese government has released a circular clarifying the rules of quarantine and nucleic acid testing for overseas arrivals.
According to the circular issued on July 23 by the State Council joint prevention and control mechanism against COVID-19, inbound passengers should receive nucleic acid testing before boarding the plane to enter the country.
People arriving from overseas are allowed to undergo seven days of home quarantine after completing a weeklong concentrated quarantine in designated places if the standards for transport, living conditions and community containment measures can be met in the areas where their residences are located.
They must receive a nucleic acid test two days before completing the seven-day concentrated quarantine, and those with negative test results will be transported to their residences to observe home quarantine, it said.
The circular also required timely diagnosis and treatment of those who develop relevant symptoms or test positive for the virus during or after home quarantine.
